Brick Walls to Canvas
Posted on August 23, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Self proclaimed urban impressionist, Miguel Paredes came to Miami in the 80s after studying at New York City’s infamous school Fiorella at La Guardia High School of Music & Art, which has been portrayed in the play and movie, Fame.
The infamous school became Paredes stepping stone to diversifying his art from brick walls to canvas. At first, he was a graffiti artist that was influenced by the explosion of New York City’s street culture, but here he began to learn a wider palate. The combination of these skills reflected in his first paintings as he became the perceptive artist that Miami grew to know and love.
His introduction to the Miami scene soared his career not only as an artist, but also as an entrepreneur. He has since developed companies such as PK Graphics and Paredes Publishing. Both companies reached success and landed Paredes the proud owner of a multi-million dollar enterprise. But his true love is his art! Always remaining true to painting, Miguel Paredes is now showcasing a collection of works and a 3-D experiment which is said to be “Iconic”.
View his recent works that debuted on August 14th at the new Miguel Paredes Fine Art Studio in Wynwood, just minutes from the Moors community.
Florida Marlins and Reggaeton Music’s Finest
Posted on August 13, 2010 · Leave a CommentFlorida Marlins Super Saturday will feature Tito “El Bambino” and Zion y Lennox on August 21st at Sun Life Stadium after their game against the Houston Astros. Get ready for this post game performance that will feature 2 of reggaeton music’s favorite artists.
Tito “El Bambino” is best known from his days as part of the duo Hector y Tito where they were successful in Latin America and in the US. In 2004, after winning Billboard Awards and a Tu Musica Award, Tito became a solo artist and solidified his position in Latin America as one of the best reggaeton performers. He has worked with Latino greats such as José Feliciano, Victor Manuelle, and many more.
Zion y Lennox, also to perform, are the Puerto Rican duo that released their first album in 2004, Motivando a la Yal, and can be heard on many songs collaborating with artist like Fat Man Scoop and, Miami native,Pit Bull. My favorite has always been “Yo Voy” with Daddy Yankee.
Lakeridge at the Moors is only minutes from the Sun Life Stadium. The first pitch will be at 7 p.m. Be one of the first 150,000 fans to arrive at the gate and you will receive a Marlins clapper.

What’s Your Love Language?
Posted on August 20, 2010 · Leave a CommentSomeone actually wrote out the 5 languages of love. Lakeridge at the Moors must read this to learn how to understand the communication of love in your relationship.
Gary Chapman is the author who broke down the languages to just five different forms of communication.
- Verbal expression or words of affirmation. This individual needs to hear the I love yous and thank you and I adore you.
- Quality time language where the couple expresses their love by spending time focusing on each other and holding conversation.
- The receiving gifts language, where the individuals involved feel loved by giving and receiving gifts no matter what the cost maybe. If there are no gifts being exchanged, it could make the one used to this form of expression feeling deprived.
- The act of service language is for individuals who love to show you there love through doing chores or household duties. They may not tell you often enough that they love you, but they find ways to show you.
- Last, but not least, the language of physical touch. This might be everybody’s favorite. It’s not just sexual, but something as simple as holding hands or kissing endlessly.
So now that you know the 5 different ways that individuals say I love you, learn which one is your favorite and let your partner know. Make sure to find out their form of love expression too and start the path to better intimacy. Remember that everyone is different and in a relationship you must learn to accept your partner for who they are.

Moving On
Posted on August 6, 2010 · Leave a CommentIn a night of debacles in Florida, the Florida Marlins and the Tampa Bay Rays have to put everything behind them and move on to the next game. Tampa Bay’s loss to the Minnesota Twins last night was caused by their own catwalk and ground rules and it’s not the first time! But, Florida’s 5-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phllies wasn’t caused by an interference in the roof of the stadium (it’s open anyway), but by a blown call by the third base umpire.
A clear extra base hit by Gaby Sanchez down the third baseline was called foul by umpire Bob Davidson which set the Marlins’ loss in stone. An irate Florida bench appealed the call with no avail, Davidson stood firm on his incorrect call. The Phillies ended up winning in 10 innings which sent the Fish to a 53-55 record. But, we can’t dwell on that! We have to move on and regroup for our next series at home against the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend.
The Marlins will send 12-7 Ricky Nolasco to the mound tonight to face off against the Cardinals stud, Adam Wainwright, who is 15-6 on the season. Can the Marlins get back on track and stick it to the Cards this weekend at Sun Life Stadium? Let’s hope so Lakeridge at the Moors. Do you plan on making a game this weekend? It’s only a 15 minute drive!

Iglesias
Posted on August 4, 2010 · Leave a CommentJulio Iglesias’ son, Enrique, is making a name for himself after about 15 years in the music industry. It’s about time, right? Yeah, he’s had a few chart toppers in his long, dismal career, but nothing that really stands out. He does have a beautiful girlfriend in the tennis star Anna Kournikova, which I sure came with the name, but what has he really done?
NOW THAT I’VE GOT YOUR ATTENTION, let’s get to what Enrique is up to these days. He’s had 21 number one songs on Billboard and has even acted a bit, playing Johhny Depp’s help in Once Upon a Time in Mexico. But, it’s not enough for him. Would it be enough for you if you were a global superstar?
Enrique is coming out with a new album called Euphoria that is a not only in English, but Spanish as well. That’s right, a bilingual album. He’s returning to his Miami roots with this album! It was released on July 6th and sold 27,000 in its debut. Get the album; it’s good! Have you heard it Lakeridge?
